Bull Reds and Redheads

Our Bull Red and Redheads is a go.  This will be a blast and cast!  It is the weekend before Thanksgiving so kids will be out of school.  This is early season duck hunting so the weather should be nice. This is also a great time for redfish especially that bull red.

Duck blinds are usually permanent built shelters.  They can be roomy and comfortable.  Light wading to get in the blind will likely be required.  Last year we walked about 100ft in knee deep water to access our blind.  Hunting may be in the AM or PM. 

Fishing will be the opposite time.  You will likely return to the boat dock to drop off and pick up anything needed between fishing and hunting. 

Our lead guide will be Thomas Mikes again.  He is a club favorite down there.  The cost of this trip is $785.  That price includes guide fees, lodging, and use of fishing tackle. Cleaning of fish and birds will be extra, but should be minimal in costs. 

Bring your shotgun, non-lead ammo, and hearing & eye protection.

Meals will be discussed prior to the trip.  We will likely cook at the house, but restaurants are an option.  Registration for this trip will be extremely limited!  A $400 deposit reserves your spot on this trip.  The balance will be due Oct 1.  If you are interested in this trip please reach out to Erik Fosheim (efosh@aol.com or 612-803-4002).

Club Christmas Party

Clubb Christmas Parties have always been a great time to mingle with members and discuss previous and upcoming activities.  Whether you are new to the club, been active for years, or haven't been to an activity in awhile this is an event you do not want to miss.  We will also raffle some door prizes.  Tickets are $35.  Each ticket is for 1 person and does include your meal.  A cash bar is provided.  Members, spouses and family members are welcome.

Upland Bird Hunt - Feb 2

 Arrival is at 12:30 for lunch.  After lunch we will begin our hunt.  The hunt will cease around 4PM.  Beverages are provided throughout the day. We will hunt the standard mixed bag of 8 quail, 2 chukar, and 2 pheasants per hunter. Additional birds may be added for a nominal fee. The cost for this trip is $325 plus tips. It includes the standard mixed bag along with DWWCC fees. You bring your shotgun, shells no larger than 6 shot and preferably 7-7.5, license, and your orange. Prairie’s End will provide us with the rest. This trip is currently capped at 8 hunters, and it is for Members Only.  This hunt will be led by Erik.

Pheasant Tower Shoot

The Club will have 10 of 20 sports for this shoot. Join other members for this unique shooting experience.

 Procedures and Rules:

• Shooting grounds consist of 20 shooting positions that range from 75 to 150 yards from the tower
• Each station is occupied by one or two shooters. (20 minimum – 40 maximum)
• Nine pheasants per shooter are released during the shoot; pheasants will be released two at a time
• Shooting positions are situated to allow only overhead shooting at pheasants that have a flying start of at least 75 yards
• Most shots are from 20 to 60 yards long
• Recommended Gun: 12 gauge, full choke
• Recommended Shell: 2 3/4″ 3 1/4 dram. 1 1/4 oz. #5s; no 3″ or 3 1/2″ magnums allowed and no shot larger than #5 allowed
• Shooters rotate after each shooting period. During the shoot each shooter rotates completely around the tower
• Halfway through the shoot we take a break for refreshments
• When the shooting is completed, all shooters return to the lodge for a barbecue lunch of beef, ribs, and sausage
• All birds are cleaned and divided equally
• Price is $575.00 per gun
• Shoot starts at 9:00 AM; arrive no later than 8:30 AM
